The book is divided into twelve chapters covering all modern diagnostic and laparoscopic surgical techniques used in small animal practices.
The main objective of the book is to provide the latest information to meet the requirements of not only undergraduate and postgraduate students but also to the teachers and veterinarians involved in laparoscopic diagnosis and surgery. The book contains more than 100 good quality colour photographs of laparoscopic diagnosis, laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic ancillary techniques.
This type of surgery is called ‘minimally invasive’ because of the very small incisions used. Yet major procedures can now be performed using this technique. The term laparoscopy is used when this type of surgery is performed in the abdomen. It’s called arthroscopy when performed in a joint and endoscopy when done through a natural opening in the body, such as the mouth or nose. The advantage of laparoscopy is that only a small incision (minimally invasive technique) is required; this is why laparoscopy is also known as ‘Keyhole surgery’.
