Feline ophthalmology the manual

This manual on Feline Ophthalmology is laid out in an easy-to-read and accessible style, taking the form of a semi-atlas. There are many photographs and illustrations with an accompanying up-to-date text, including references, with practical tips and cutting edge information. Step-by-step guides to minor procedures and surgical conditions provide clear advice on techniques in general practice, with occasional reference to what is available in referral practice. Background information on anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology is also provided, but kept to a reasonable level. This book contains everything the clinician needs to know about eye-related problems in cats.

From the outset, we aimed for Feline Ophthalmology – The Manual to be an up-to-date semi-atlas style text encompassing all areas of clinical feline ophthalmology. The manual is intended to provide a detailed outline of feline ophthalmology for veterinary students, practitioners with an interest in feline ophthalmology and those undertaking more specialist training in veterinary ophthalmology. The Feline Patient Fourth Edition

The manual takes a logical approach to the discipline beginning with the fundamental platform of the ophthalmic examination, which must be mastered to enable disease recognition, before taking a largely tissue-based approach to ophthalmic disease with reference to clinically relevant anatomy and physiology. We also decided to include chapters on ocular therapeutics, anaesthesia and surgery, as these are all essential ancillary topics with which the ophthalmologist must be familiar and use on a day-to-day basis, but are so often neglected in clinical ophthalmology texts. For those techniques commonly encountered in feline practice, step-by-step photographs and/or illustrations have been provided for the reader to follow whilst providing guidance of when specialist advice or referral should be sought.

Advanced diagnostic imaging has become increasingly available with more and more practitioners having access to CT and MRI scanners since the publication of previous similar texts and atlases. To reflect this, many of the clinical photographs in the chapters on the orbit and neuro-ophthalmology are accompanied by case-specific annotated CT or MRI images.
